Simple Cheap Track-Making

I've only really make DIY home recordings. The one CD I made for duplication, I used Cubase. I made a new project, put all the stereo mixes in it and made cuts to snap the in/out points to so that some audio would continue while the track changed. In other words, I exported separate tracks that worked seamlessly when I put them back together in Nero.

I have to do something similar again, where the tracks change while audio is still going.

Is there another way you would recommend me making these tracks?

I used some hi-end mastering software in school where everything was laid out with flags for tracks and it all exported at once - but I don't know of a free alternative. So, should I just use Cubase and export from cut to cut?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You know, my master export for CD is usually 1 long file. Sometimes there's silence between songs and sometimes they crossfade etc. It's pretty simple to put the track changes wherever you want in Nero or whatever you use as long as you don't let the CD authoring software add its own silence at the splits.

OK, well, at work I'm on a Mac that has Toast9.

When I used the individual exported tracks from Cubase, there is a click when the tracks change (burned in Toast).

I don't see a way for Toast to break up one long track into smaller tracks. Can it?

How can I "master" these discs so that there is no click or glitch when the tracks change?

I'm going to try using fast crossfades in Toast at 00:00:01 (I don't know if that means 1/100th of a second or what). But this seems like an unnecessary workaround.
