Abbey Road Compressor Limiter Plugins

Hi,

Ive recently purchased the abbey road compressor plugins and am really loving them as compressors for drums, bass, guitar and keys. But am I correct in thinking that the original hardware was used for mastering also. Its just the website is a little bit vague. It mentions the Beatles & Pink floyds dark side of the moon, but is this in relation to tracking compression or mastering. What other records do you know of that this compressor was used for during mastering?

Thanks, George

Thanks, I know what marketing is....I asked if the compressor that the plugin has been modelled on, was used in mastering, and if so, on what records? I think they both sound really nice, and Im perfectly happy using them as track compressors, I'm not looking for some kind of validation. I'm not expecting to get a truly authentic 60's / 70's sound simply by using this plugin, Im interested more in the usage & history of the original hardware. Pure curiosity. Can anyone tell me about it please? Many thanks!

George

If the plug-ins you're referring to are the TG series 123413 and the TG1, which I think you are, they are modeled after the compressor found in the "solid state" TG series consoles that replaced some of the Redd "tube" consoles in some of the studios at AR around 69/70 and the chandler TG1 compressor.

I highly doubt that the TG series compressor's would have been used on any mastering session's for the Beatles considering the TG console was only used for The Beatles last album "Abbey Road" and were primarily a recording/mixing console. Info from "Recording The Beatles"
