Setting up M/S in Protools?

Hey guys,

I've worked with M/S on the TC6000 with both the EQ and multiband comp.

Is there a way of doing this in Protools so I can use any plug-in I want on the mono and stereo signal?
I hope you get my question.
It must have something to do with phase, but I haven't figured out how to set it up. Is it possible?

Thanks in advance!

if i understand you correctly, you´ll need something like this:

http://www.smassey.com/download/Mass....5.3_r1932.zip

there´s a free ms tool in this bundle which you can use together with multi-mono plugins, so your left channel is processing mid and right is for side signal, you just have to unlink them to dual mono.

Or you can just create 3 tracks, pan the side channels L and R and put one out of phase, and then bus all that to a stereo AUX track and throw the plugins on the AUX track...

You can also use the Voxengo freebie MSED plug-in (if you have a VST-RTAS converter).

I added a UAD 88RS to the Mid & Side channels, added another aux track for a Dimension D and set up sends to it from the M/S channels (set to 0 and adjust the level of the send as needed). I have the Dimension D set very about 1/2 way to 0, so it's subtle. Last time I used this setup was for a mix where the vocals sounded very narrow and they had some "creative" things happening with cymbals on the side channel, so I was able to apply the DimD on the mid channel and make the vocals sound a little more interesting.
