With an "all in one" plug in may require additional effort to test.

Could you explain this more clearly please? Is there any way to actually put a number on the latency this way? Any plugins that measure latency?

Before you say this is impossible, let me explain how it could work. You could have 2 plugs, one that goes in front of the chain, the other after. The first plugin sends an inaudible ping which is recieved by the second plugin after going through the chain. The times at which the pings were sent and recieved are then displayed on the the second plugin. Voila.

Any one want to hire me to design plugins? So far I can do GUI, build DLL files, and come up with cool ideas...I have a few others which could really really kick ass...

Reaper is neither freeware nor open source. It does have a very cool feature which let's you use parallel processing with ANY vst with built in wet/dry mixer for each effect. Pretty sweet.

As far as comps with built in parallel processing, yeah Rocket and Pro-C are among the best I have been able to try. Rocket IMO if you want ny-style heavy parallel compression.

Actually I tend to trust open source software where I don't trust anything else, because they are opening themselves up to inspection that most people wouldn't know how to do otherwise, coders included. I wonder why anyone would feel otherwise, unless they have been subjected to anti open-source propaganda.

Think of it this way. It's like you're saying that processed food that doesn't list the ingredients is more trustworthy.

Hmm, what was that compressor that someone posted a while ago, a few months ago, that was doing multiband compression but "restoring" the original dynamics afterwards? I forgot what that was, cos it wasn't released at the time, and now I kinda wanna re-check and see if it's available again. The demo video they had was impressive to me.

[edit]
maybe it wasn't multiband, i can't remember. but if anyone else does, pop it up here, cos even if it's not what i remember it should be a good addition to this topic

U can try the Jeroen Breebaart VST plugin (Red Phat Pro). It's a great compressor for only 10 euro's..
