The Best place to ask

Hello, I am mixing a project in Pro Tools HD at 96k OTB. I am laying my Stereo mix to a Masterlink at 88.2 leaving plenty headroom.

Should I take my CD24's into mastering or just bring the Masterlink itself?
Which is most common?

Lastly, anyone working in the Los Angeles area with a good handle on Jazz/Jazz Pop mastering please let me know.

Thanks

You can export the files as AIF flies and bring / send them to the ME.

Why are you mixing sampling rates?

Not really mixing different sample rates. The DA conversion from Pro Tools is being mult'd to an analog console. The analog master stereo mix buss is going into the Masterlink. The Masterlink is recording at 88.2 24bit. So the final stereo mixes are all 24bit @ 88.2. Which can be burned to a CDR as a CD24 disc containing the 24bit files. Or I could just bring the Masterlink itself to the Mastering session. My question is what is more flexiable and the most common.

Masterlinks are getting outdated but there's still a lot of engineers that have them. You could just find one of the hundreds and send the Masterlink CD to them.

BTW, I think your workflow is fine.

Maybe this is odd I am not sure. But I like to sit with Mastering engineer when I have a project mastered. So either way CD24 or bring the Masterlink with me.

Is there any sonic advantage to have the 88.2 24-bit mixes transferred to tape. And master analog?

Also Is there anything I should do to prepare for the possibility of having vinyl pressed?

Thanks again
