Ha, I have a superstition about the number 27. See the 27 club at:

Thanks And no worries, the wife was holding her (and hiding) for the photo.

Like others here I often make settings in "Schnapszahlen" (German for "booze numbers"... a term for multi digit numbers with all digits being identical). One could even rationalize that it makes sense ergonomically, when typing a number, as the typing finger doesn't have to be moved

Sorry to disappoint, that EQ is a Sontec 250 C series, not a Massenburg.

Yeah I'm well aware of the 27 club!

Eons ago when I was 27, I drank enough tequila one night that... well let's just say I still have an aversion to cheap tequila.

Many times I've finished a CD master and guess what, the length is 42:42.

I also keep seeing the number 11:11 on digital clocks.

September ninth coming up soon, etc...

I do enjoy that rare day when I hit all the traffic lights on green.

But I'm not into numerology at all... really... just observing coincidence : - )

That's one damn fine sounding EQ, I had one in the early '90s.

I love it

How does it compare in sound to the 432 C? Did you ever have the 2 side by side?

A friend of mine kept seeing 911 everywhere he looked. He kept saying "something's going to happen on September 11th!" 3 years later......

Different sounding. The 250C was quite colorful with a silky high end,

the 432C is more neutral but with a "euphonic" musical character.

both different from the 250EX, and the GML 8200. All great tho'.

Ha! I should have looked closer. I thought it was an 8200 - I'm not even in the ballpark. Your daughter is the scene stealer in that picture anyway...

How so? Is the 250EX some kind of newer version of the 250C? Or are they two different beasts? I'm curious because I had the 250EX here.

The 250C had lots of flavor, the 250EX is more nuetral, closer to the 432C.

Speaking from aural memory, it's been over a decade since I touched a 250C.

At the time (mid '90s) I remember the 250C being the perfect antidote to the sound of the cold harsh digital converters of the day.
'Course I was usually pairing it with a Drawmer 1960 compressor and early Apogee convertors : - )

I'd really like to hear one again in my room up against the 432C.

Hell for that matter I'd like to have a whole array of Sontecs, one of each model, including the ITI.

For reference here's a scan of a polaroid of said unit, underneath a vintage box of 3M DAT tapes ; - )

Switching back and forth between bypass of the whole master buss and the raw lifeless track is so geek and hip to me.

I have been reading gearslutz for a long while now, and finally decided to join. According to this thread, i really am going to fit in here.

I am very new to all this mixing and mastering business. I think my favourite moment is looking at my brand new Quested monitoring chain and thinking, god yes!
