swapped my api2500 for one of these for a minute.

it was cool. price is right. its sounds much like alot of the "ssl" clones.
easy to use, looks great, etc.

i was glad to get the api2500 back tho.

cool. yea it seems pretty affordable compared to lots of options just wondering if any slutz are using them in mastering.

i actually never even heard of this comp or TK Audio for that matter until i saw an ad here on gear slutz.

anyone else use this comp before and want to shine some light on its tonal characteristics?

I found it more smooth then grabby, actually. It has a slight veil to the clean.

Not using it ... tried it out in Dec '08 during beat-the-chain month.

I'm as i'm writing testing one in a mix not mastering and all i can say in my ears, this baby is one of my favorite comp ever. I myself find it smooth, can be punchy in time when needed and round, it brings meat, boddy in whatever you put it. Working on it now in Drums, Vocals and simply magical and most warm and musical. Will be purchasing it as soon as i finish the test drive!

In one word in my opinion, a must have piece!

And most, thanx to GK at Steve's Pro Audio music for introducing it to me

Cheeers!

Right on. I would say it leans smooth, and can stretch to grabby, but never as much as the more agressive SSL types.
