API 2500 tech problem

Hi, tech question :

All of a sudden the left side of my API 2500 is not compressing at all.
With L/R link set to IND only the right channel is doing the gain reduction.
Anyone seen this before, any known issues with the 2500 and left side compression not working?

I have dropped API an email but if someone in here has an answer please share..

Thanks

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere in the feed to the left channel control voltage for the VCA. It's a control voltage problem because the VCA is evidently passing signal. When IND is turned off are both sides gain reducing? If so, then clearly the problem is in the IND switch!

API is going to ask you to return the unit for repair. If you can isolate it to the switch you can confirm that it is the switch and not some easily fixed cold solder joint, yourself by measuring DC control voltages.

Similar but not the same

My unit passes audio in both channels, just not doing any gain reduction on the left side.
I´ll have to track down the Norwegian dealer and see if the warranty from Alto Music is good here.

Or I could go digging around inside the unit and throw a few things around to see if that helps although that is not the best solution..

My 2500 had a few db difference in GR between channels. I sent it in for diagnostic and they found a few problems. They seemed a little bit puzzled about it.

It could be a bad op amp. I've had multiple op amps replaced in my 525's.

Ray, at API tech repair is a great guy and will certainly help you get it going asap.

It seems like alot of issues are being reported on this unit on this forum lately. Makes me nervous as I just bought one!
