UA2192-MassivePassive-STC8-?

Hi,

I have saved up cash for a new piece of gear.

I have a rack mainly for mastering electronic music consisting of UA2192 - MassivePassive and STC-8.

Im thinking about either a Thermoinic Phoenix, an API 2500 or Elysia Mpressor, or a Manley Vari-mu or whatever.

I like warm, big, fat and punchy sounds!

Thanks

(one more thing, how do I set up my profile so I get notified when recieving an answer)

You can't go wrong with any of the compressors you mentioned. They all have a very identifiable (in a positive way) sound. With the Mpressor you have quite a bit more control than the others, You can dig deeper. This also means you will need more time to make it sound its best. I find the others (and especially the Phoenix) quicker into getting good sounding compression and more intuitive while the Elysia is more flexible (Swiss army knife sort of comp if you will). Try them if you can before purchasing. Seeing that you choose the Massive as your eq you will probably (just guessing here) like the Vari-Mu and the Phoenix in your chain.

Thank you,

I want to carefully expand my mastering chain to have highend tube/solid state devices that compliment each other well.

Do you think the three I have now is a wise choice?

Im also thinling about the tubetech multiband .

Is a stereo micpreamp something to use in a mastering chain?

Cheers

its a nice toy, but i think one shouldn't buy such processors unless the rest of the chain is 100% in ordnung: a nice clean eq and comp, a comp and eq with 'sound' and good converters. with that, you can do everything you need to. after that, you can get some toys

Thank you!

So you think I need a colour comp and clean eq?

Please give me some recomendations.

I had kind of decided no to go for somethik like GML8200 or Ibis, but the GML would maybe give more punch lows and airy highs.
Im like boosting mids, so I bought the massive passive, and also for the colour.

Would you say the tubetech multiband is also a toy?

Cheers
