How to operate the Tascam DS-D98 digital in (AES/EBU) as a stand alone DAC?

I follow the tascam dsd98 manual
http://www.tascam.com/i-474-232-128-0-2C063BF8.pdf

DB 25 connector (digital 1 in)
pin 12-cold
pin24-hot
pin 25-ground

XLR (AES/EBU digital out from CD player)
pin 1-ground
pin 2-+ve
pin 3--ve

yes, the meter had signal but the signal is full loading

And, the analog out without sound

Which button need to press in order to monitor the digital signal from 44.1KHZ CD player digital out (AES/EBU) through tascam dsd98 DB-25 digital in and connect the analog out to the power amp for monitoring? Because I would like to use it as a standalone DAC.

Because my power amp without XLR connector, it had RCA connector only so I made XLR to RCA cable to connect tascam dsd98 analog out (XLR)and power amp audio input(RCA).

Any problem?

I follow tascam manual to diy DB25 to XLR connector

DB 25 connector
pin 12-cold
pin24-hot
pin 25-ground

XLR
pin 1-ground
pin 2-+ve
pin 3--ve

Then in the recorder, I selected digital in, how can I monitor the sound before recording into the tape. I connected analog out but no sound. Any button need to press in order to operate the recorder.

What is the procedure?

Do you see any signal activity on the DS-D98 meter?

Which DB25 connector are you using on the DS-D98?
