A brandable DDP player. If this works as intended, it fills a huge void.

This branded player would be an absolute necessity for me if it was cross-platform (OSX as well).

But it's not...

Which basically makes it useless to me, unfortunately. MOST of my clients are on Mac (probably 75%).

That´s true. I´m on a Mac myself, planning to run DDP Creator under Parallels. A Mac version of all these product would be great.

Maybe someday?

Parallels.... meh... not so much.

If you haven't tried VMware Fusion, version 2... then you're missing out on performance and integration that's unmatched.
VMware Fusion: Run Windows on Mac, for Mac Desktop Virtualization - VMware

Running windows apps right in OSX gui with next to zero speed loss...
http://www.vmware.com/files/images/s...oseshot-lg.jpg
no problem.

Cool DDP player btw. I try not to jump the gun on software, so I can't wait to hear what people really think of it when it comes out.

Yeah there are ways of running windows on a mac but I'm not going to try to educate all of my clients. Sorry but this whole idea needs to be cross-platform or they're going to sell 5-10% as many copies of the program.

I use it on Mac OSX under Parallels, it works fine. Very simple an straight forward interface. There has been one update to fix minor things. I think it is very good, I now can generate and verify DDP´s. It reads and burns CD-TEXT and ISRC.

We do of course want a full Mac-version.... hope it will come.

Porting to Mac is definitely something I am looking at at the moment. I have had more requests for that. We'll see how it turns out.

The upcoming 1.0.2 update has Pyramix .pmi image file support. Both the DDP Creator and DDP Player can import .pmi files that can be auditioned or burned to disc. The DDP Creator can make DDP images of it and edit the data if needed.

This update will be released later this week.

Sounds cool even though I´m not a PC/Pyramix user. I do think your future potential for this program is to expand the range of images that can be imported.

I recently bought DSP Quattro and it can bounce/make an image as a sd2-file. DSP Quattro lacks cd-text, but when I opened the sd2 in Toast both ISRC and cd-text was there! This means; if Sonoris DDP creator could import sd2-files just like Toast does, I could easily make a DDP without burning a cd (with all error-checking needed).
That would be amazing!

Pieter, what do you think of that?

I'm not Pieter - but I can see the possible issue for him implementing this is that the sd2 format depends on resource forks which get stripped out when they are moved to PC workstations. Doesn't DSP Quattro support aiff files? These are also already supported by DDP Creator and are much more cross platform compatible than sd2 files.

Best regards,
Steve Berson

Ok, I was aware that this is a Mac-related question... and that sd2 is somehow of outdated also.

The whole thing is that the sd2-file is an image, and it does include ISRC and cd-text. (That was a surprise to me....) And sd2 is the file you have to make from DSP Quattro when making an image.

It would be great to make a DDP without burning a cd, thats all.

Well.... DDP Creator can in fact make a DDP image without having to burn a CD.

Aiff is not an image.

The DDP Creator has "Cue Sheet (cue) support".
I thought this was about importing an cue/bin image, but it´s not. Just tried that, and it says "image file type BINARY not supported". So it must be another type of cue...

The whole idea with importing sd2-images was that the image can be created in DSP Quattro and then opened in DDP Creator for DDP-making and cd-burning.

Different programs may make other type of images, I think one of the big potentials for DDP Creator is to expand the range of image-types that can be imported. Now they´re soon opening up for Pyramix-images, I vote for sd2-images next.

Don´t misunderstad; I really think this program is great!

Currently only a cue/wav or cue/aif file combo is supported. Binary files shouldn't be a problem to implement too, I'll add that on my list.

With some creative testing I´m now able to make a DDP without burning a cd first!

This is how I do it:
Bounce the project with DSP-Quattro to a .sd2 file.
Open the .sd2 file with Toast. Then "Save as bin/cue" from there.
Open bin/cue from Sonoris DDP Creator, add CD-Text (only Artist/Performer, song titles are intact) and ISRC. Export DDP.

This means I don´t have to burn cd´s and error-check them. Faster and better.
Really happy now!

Talk about jumping through hoops to get something done... 3 programs & 2 operating systems later... hardly faster.

You can do what you're wanting easily with Sonic PMCD & now you can get the DDP import option for $100US. So the whole PMCD Pro (with DDP import/export) for $595US. One program & the best operating system OSX ; )

Also if you buy the DDP import option for Sonic PMCD you get their new DDP Player application free when it's released. Hooray for Mac!

I know, it´s not optimal, but at least I get it done. And it doesn´t take long. Windows is running in the background, opening Sonoris DDP Creator is as instant as opening Toast native. It would of course be better to do all in one program; I´m demoing PMCD right now. Don´t know how that ends, I´m struggeling with it...
We´ll find out.

I´ll always stay with Mac, using Windows on it is just for programs I don´t have for OSX jet.
