Why All The Music After 2000 Sounds So Loud Like a TV Commercial??????

So I was bored today and I went on the itunes store. On the Bottom left corner there are ''Genre Essentials & Genres And History'' There you can listen to music from a specific year.
I like to think that I can see the value in all genres even if a particular genre is not really my cup of tee.
I started off from 1978 and went all through the eighties and nineties up till 2008.

On thing I noticed is that everything started getting louder and louder.

You would think that the newer songs sound better because we have better technology now... well you are in for a surprise!
Everything after 2000 sounds harsh and annoying.
Ever watched a show on TV When a commercial comes on and it is louder than the show till you can find the TV Control and mute that annoying voice?
Well I can safely say that the music after 2000 has that annoying ''TV Commercial sound''.
And I am thinking why do they ruin the music like that?

How would all those Witney Houston records sound like if they were made today?
See would probably sound like she is coming from a machine.

It could be that Witney Houston was recording in a very good studio but I am sure that the newer artists record in good studios too.
So why dont they make the music sound nice?

Why not have the guitar and the vocals and the drums at a proper volume so that the song sounds nice overall?

Take for example the wintney houston song ''I will Always love you''
See puctuates some words but other words are softer.
There are soft parts in a song that interact with the loud part and make the experience pleasurable. I think those soft parts are important too!
If you make the whole thing sound loud you are missing the point and you are doing a bad job at capturing the performance in my opinion.

And if I am listening to a guitar ballad the point of the song is not to WAKE ME UP WITH THE ACCOUSTIC GUITAR ALL THE WAY UP! No!
But even the Rap and electronic music sounded better in the mid-nineties because vocals sound more natural to me if they are not TOO LOUD and make the experience far more pleasurable.

What are your thoughts on this?

The topic you've raised has been discussed here in many threads. Search for "loudness war".

Also, you might like to check out DYNAMIC RANGE | pleasurize music!

They're offering a free software tool that you can use to determine the dynamic range of a recording.
