Mastering for iTunes

Hey

What are you using to prepare a master for iTunes. This is firstly the conversion to MP3 but more significantly to me right now, how do you generate the playlist information, track names etc. Are these functions contained in any mastering software for MP3?

Thanks a bunch

Isn't that more a question for the graphic designers?

We always upload the info to the Gracenote database after importing the CD in iTunes.

The digital distributer that you use to sell your tracks on itunes will do all the track information for you.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the client has asked for masters for CD and for MP3 release. I can't just give him the CD masters and say 'sort the MP3s out with your distributer' - or can I??

Thnks

You upload the songs to itunes. Name them and fill out any other info you can in itunes and then, under "Advanced" clic "submit track names. Everything gets uploaded to a data base and from then on your all set. Anytime you put in a cd with those songs all the correct info will appear.

Thanks a lto for this - very helpful. Is this something you would do for the client, and is it something you can do ahead of the release?
Thanks again

Yes, sometimes I will do it for the client but usually don't bring it up unless the client does.

You can do it pre release but is important that you do it with the digital files that are going to be released because if you change anything about the file and resend the info you have to change the name slightly.

As another sidenote , Itunes does not accept uploads from persons only companies.
At least in Europe.
