Would something fully web-based be acceptable?

- make the interface brandable with a logo
- sell to mastering studios to use as an eMastering delivery / client proofing solution... As it is, there's no real solution to get images to clients in a foolproof way, which is a bit of a pain. A DDP player/burning app that'd be geared toward that would really fill a void.
Very cool. That's exactly what I had in mind with my previous question to Matthew about using it for client proofing, but I like your idea of the embedded, branded player.

yes. i was thinking the same thing this morning.

like a flash based player that streams the DDP.

data rates might be hard to do in real time over slow connections :/

DDP player for client use

This really would be fantastic as a proofing tool for clients. Maybe a cheap 30 day license that I can include send to clients to check masters. PC compatibility would be great (if possible with a browser based interface). Maybe it would be possible to include an ftp client so that less ftp savvy clients can just click on a download master button, then audition the ddp or burn to cd. Maybe an option to convert whole cd to individual mp3 files would be cool too.

Keep up the good work!

Oh wow please get that rolling for client proofing. I'm very interested... web based, or cross platform. It was the first thing I thought of when I read the very first post. Our mastering clients would be very very grateful.

Hey all, I failed to mention in previous posts here and elsewhere that Backline requires Mac OS X 10.5. My apologies for the omission.

There is some under-the-hood stuff that requires 10.5. We're looking at ways to work around this, but for now it requires 10.5.

The Basic license will be included, the DDP Player license will not.

Still come across pressing plants not savvy with DDP and at present, nothing like this seems to exist for Mac (other than bogging down your system with Bootcamp & XP in order to run PlextorTools...)

BUMP!

I'm wait for the disc analysis feature to appear in Backline, with card in hand Matthew!

Any word on the progress?

Yesterday our lone PlexTools PC died at the studio (we think it's the motherboard).

So we spent a good part of the afternoon installing Boot Camp, Windows XP, and Plextools on my MacBook, which works just great as a stop gap, but...

All the Best - JT

That sucks. We're just getting Backline up to speed for the 1.0.0 release. Lining up interns to populate the effects update database!

The CD tools are probably a ways off.

Thanks Matthew.

I imagine there are many of us around the globe waiting on this feature for OSX.

Might be a really big seller.

Cheers - JT

I just stumbled across this thread - web based sounds VERY interesting! Robin is right, cross platform is a must, since you can't force your clients into using a certain OS.

So how could such a player work - would that be a flash player type of thing? Would there be the possibility to burn a CD as well?

We recently have been thinking about having some proprietory developed - are you already working on something specific or could you give us any clue about the timeframe such a project?

Cheers,
Mischa

Any plans to do ilok licenses for Wave Editor and Backline?
