Nothing on here has been libelous so far.

Noone's calling him a c*cks*cker, they're just saying that he doesn't include a gear list which is very shady.
Good point. However, allow me to play devil's advocate, 'libel' is a complicated area within the law. Depending on the laws in your State/Country, if Ximorp 'can' prove that he does own a legitimate studio and mastering equipment, or gets an affidavit or a statement from a satisfied customer{s} - he can sue GS and even those members who have a real name in their sigs and have participated in making libelous comments on this thread. How that plays out in a court of law is a complicated legal matter: was losing online income due to the slow economy or this thread? Over the top scenario: what if instead of the 1,037 views on GS we have a TV show doing a documentary about online scams with an 1/2 million audience and 200,000 people remember his company name? Of course this is an extreme example - but in a world of 15 minute fame, not impossible. Most likely, there would just be an out of court settlement - at the very least, this thread would be erased from GearSlutz.

Regards,

Then, why would you want to ridicule him here on GS? However, that's not the case. He does charge for mastering after the first song.

I just visited this guy's youtube account and it cracked me up.
Even Mr. Serious (who posted in this thread) made me giggle.

IT`S NOT FREE ANYMORE!!!!!

He now charges 1 Dollar or Pound or Euro, because people created fake e-mail accounts to get multiple tracks mastered for free.

You gotta remember that the folks that are gonna go to a guy like this are bedroom cats and probably have no idea what mastering is even for. I would imagine most of the material is written, played, produced and engineered so poorly that all the time in the world with the best hardware would not even afford an "ok" sounding end product. At least someone is making a little $ off the [K]rack headz....

Zimbabwe Dollars United States Dollars 1 ZWD = 0.0000000985405 USD 1 USD = 10,148,113.00 ZWD

Well my intention wasnt to ridicule him or her more so the mentality that all mastering is just raising the volume which its not, i was just using him or her as an example and i guess i shouldnt have...which i apologize for just that im fed up with wanna be masterers poping up all over the place...they arent a threat just it seems annoying....on the other hand if there using this to gain experiance to better their techqunic then im all for it but it should be expressed to those who are interested in the service, not being told that they know it all or act like they do..to which some people naivly fall for at times.. so thats what i was refering to....

and thanks for the compliments ximorph you held your own gracefully and i guess i didnt..which is rare....and i admire that....good luck to all that you do.

I commend you for those comments, Chaellus and support the view that there are just too many people practicing bad amateur mastering. I can totally relate with your concern. Perhaps Ximorp himself - now that he has visited this forum - understands some of the frustrations going on in this mastering community. The truth is, if Ximorp is up to no good and he is misrepresenting himself on the WWW - he is going to find out that the gig lasts literally almost no time. And, if people are not satisfied with his work, they will not make the same mistake twice; not with him or any other suspiciously cheap mastering service. All this will only reinforce what we've been saying on this forum all along. In the end, we should realize that talking about people conducting bad mastering business is as futile as their ultimate fate: the unemployment line. However, if Ximorp is good at mastering, he'll stay in business and grow - eventually to charge as high as some of the most successful ME's on GS. You never know.

With that said I am glad this discussion has served several purposes.

Regards,

I just listened to his 'production' on his page. Unfortunately you only get a 5bar verse. I presume you have to pay a dollar, euro, surinam dollar to hear the rest :(

I had fun finding the drums too.

He's a fellow Gear slut now.

Let's stop.

Still, Libel is a bit much. And if you're not generating income, you're not losing income which means damages are non-existent. Kudos for attempting to get the name out there though. We're just "taking the piss out of him"

Indeed, it's just harmless fun. I'm sure he's a millionaire by now (in Zimbabwean dollars)
