Everyone can add to this one! Myspace Streaming vs. ?

Myspace provides good networking though the streaming quality is poor! Listen to an artists song on myspace for 30 seconds, then listen to that artists same song imediatetly with the orignal mp3, using windows media player, itunes, ect. Much Different!! I want my first impressions to be of high quality, and not something muffled. Especially if I ask yer guys opinions on how my mix sounds. Everything through myspace literally makes things feel as if they sit differently in the mix, and ive seen encoders (little mini players) of better quality streamers like quicktime's audio, an such that you can html on the internet, but never tried them, or other website's that allow you to upload music media and share. If you were to ask someone via the internet to listen to your mix, and you wanted to be of high-quality to get the best feed-back, what would you put your music on, or what do you do to post yer music at high-quality, good html coder?, website?, er what? im still going to use myspace for networking, but for those with the pro ear, looking for my alternative, thanks guys!

Same here. I use my own flash player which plays 256Kbps/44.1khz mp3 audio and is embedded on my 'About Me' section. The MySpace player audio quality is notoriously bad.

Regards,

the problem with this kind of player is that you can easily get the playlist file from the sourcecode which contains the paths of the audiofiles...

One shouldn't put entire songs then - only clips. If someone steals that then who cares.

Or you could let someone like Bandcamp host your audio, automatically making it available in a variety of formats, though as far as I can tell you can still only stream in 128kbps mp3 (hopefully I'm wrong there). You could then put widgets on your own site.

i mean ive had songs at 128 kbps an what not sound good, but when there placed on the myspace it just like adds to the problem, an sounds like they run at 50 kpbs. the streaming overall just mess's with the mix, and the clarity goes down similar to like if you put video on youtube.

Well - I didn't do the programing or installing of the player - I was told by a friend who set it up that is by Jeroen Wijering who used to give away the script a couple of years ago. I searched and apparently he now has a site that offers video players: Jeroen Wijering.

The audio files reside on my partner's server {which is our online service anyway} and who is also hosting the audio streaming for me. Then according to him you need to login to your MySpace account go to Profile >> Edit Musician Profile >> Edit Musician Bio >> Edit. Then you insert the embed code before or after the text content like your bio and that should be it. The player appears on your 'About Me' section right below the MS player and above your blog titles.

I hope this helps.

I just imbedded my Soundclick player on my myspace page. Myspace is a PITA to deal with, and this just makes it easier. I have a VIP page, so I can upload high bitrate files.
