World-music, film/tv, which plugins?

Hi,

There's been a lot of discussions involving various plugins - waves, sonnox, Sonalksis, Flux, etc...but many readers are into rock/pop music.
For those of your who mix and master instrumentals, world-music, New Age, film/tv, etc...which plugins would you suggest? Should we use something more transparent or a vintage emulation?
Your feedback would be appreciated!

I think most of us use outboard, the usual suspects (Lexicon, Eventide, TC). Eventide and TC have plugs available in some formats--I'd check them out. I'd say the main thing is have at least a 30 second decay time on the reverbs and the ability to modulate them, and also check out delays with various filtering options (I like PSP84).

Maybe if you give an example I can be more specific--it's a really wide genre these days. ;-)

Hi Sunbreak,

you're right. I was a little vague. I was refering mainly to equalization and compression of the final product, and...strictly plugins for practical purposes. Price is not really an issue here, just the basically the philosophy behind this type of production.

Thanks

As a general rule, these styles don't have a lot of compression or limiting, but I'd usually use the same tool set as I would for a pop/rock sound, just in a different way.
