aplogies if its been asked a zillion time - i couldn't get the search to work today. I have a project with a shitload of sinewaves around 20 - 120 Hz which is destined to become a vinyl LP, clearly it needs careful treatment. i have never mastered for vinyl before. all the links on the web say basically "don't do it". what do I really need to know? f |

| The VINYL CUT Robert Henke talks with Rashad Becker about Mastering here is a few info from the 2 first links i could put my hands on (plenty of infos on google mate) + keep it dynamic, not too much limiting, be carefull with HF energy (use of a de-esser) etc... this guy Rashad, says he manage to cut stuff with stereo bass 98% of the time...but read his interview he's a knowledgeful engineer. and here several people adviced not to second guess cutting engineer's work, like let him(her) center thos LF if necessary, etc... side length is important , keep it in the good margin giving 24bit files,, choosing 45rpm and 180g vinyls are going to the quality direction too sorry for this quick and non exhaustive answer...far more knowledgeful people here may complete and or correct my post |

The engineer cutting the vinyl lacquers should understand your files when received. communication is key |

Every cutting system has its own unique requirements. There can be no formulas other than careful attention to centering accuracy, attention to breath pops and sibilance and not putting steady low frequency stuff on the sides which are all MIXING issues as opposed to mastering band-aids.
