What to do? Forssell mod or new eq?

I have only one analog eq the stock blk Millennia NSEQ, and use Epure for most corrective eq'ing ITB.I feel i am able to afford another eq outside of the computer and have looked at all the usual suspects , but all the great talk about the Forssell mod make me think maybe i should do that first.
I like the process of corrective eq in the digital domain and love to shape with the analog eq, i just don't no if the stock millennia adds the "honey" I feel i need.

So should i go for the mod or grab a second eq?

Thanks

Jaffa

The Forssell mod is around $800, no? Thats all I have to contribute, though I know if I still had my nseq, I'd definitely get the Forssell mod.

The Forssell mod is a lot like getting a new EQ. The question is if it's the EQ you're looking for...

I just wrote a short review of mine (the new board was installed last week), I think the thread is "NSEQ-F in Germany/Europe?" or similar.

Cheers,
Thor

i just got my nseq ƒ'd
its not the same thing anymore, it only looks the same.
i've always wondered why the nseq knobs are so grotesquely protuberous?

its "Sweeter" then the maselec, thats for sure.
the maselec had more edge, and sharpness.
the diff is like an a mercedes and a BMW.

if eq's were cars....
then guess the API 5500 is a Ford Mustang and an Amek Medici is an Aston Martin.

I got to hear Dave Mcsnare's Forsell modded Millenia when I visited his new room at Masterdisk and have to say I'm impressed - pretty sweet high end and solid mids and bottom as well - you can boost a lot and it still doesn't really get edgy. Got to say ergonomically that I hate the feel of the smallish/tweaky NSEQ's Q and freq selection knobs - but otherwise I think the Forsell modded NSEQ is a very good choice for mastering that offers lots of bang for buck. Not sure I'd want it to be my only eq - but considering the other options in the price range if I was starting from scratch I'd most likely get one.

Still waiting to hear the reviews of the new Buzz Audio mastering eq as well!

Best regards,
Steve Berson

thermos's reply that its " "Sweeter" then the maselec, thats for sure."
Makes me want tot try this and all the other responses makes me wonder if i to am not feeling the millennia stock eq,
but if i try the mod and it is then not the eq i want i am sure i could replace it with something new all together.
My location makes things pretty hard to try but this might be an easy attempt at getting something more to my taste,
the looks pretty simple, but i will have a great tech do it just to feel more at ease.
