No Clip on Input PreFader -> Clipping Output Prefader?

Hey Everyone, Sorry if this is a redundant post but I am having a problem. When I recorded this song today I checked the gain in Pro tools using prefader metering to make sure I got a good track. Now when I playback in prefader metering a lot of the tracks are clipping like crazy!!! When I look at the audio waveform it doesnt look like it is clipping. What is the problem here?
Below is a pic of some wave forms as well as the rough bounced track. Feel free to comment!

Do you have any plug-ins on the track?

Yup. Why does that matter? Does a plugin effect the gain on prefader metering?

depends whether they are pre/post fader. not sure about protools but in nuendo this can happen by placing the plugs in the wrong slot.

Inserts are always pre-fader. So, if you've got a plug-in that's too hot, it will clip the track meter when in Pre Fader metering. Most plug-ins will report input or output clipping with some kind of meter in the plug-in GUI, and the insert text will turn red. However, this is not the case with all plug-ins, so you really have to watch your levels and use your ears.

Also, it's entirely possible to clip the input of some plug-ins without ever seeing a clip indication (i.e: the Trim plug-in has no input meter).
