I may have mentioned it before, but I don't master my own mixes. I have in the past (and usually regretted it later). No more unless I'm just mixing a friend's demo "for fun" (and then I'll still suggest he send it out for mastering).

Same here--I send out my own projects for mixing, even though I've got all the tools for it.

I mix, edit and produce too.

I do everything now , produce ,mix , and master - Finally got the mastering thing figured out - I Changed my mixing technique so i mix like it is mastered and makes mastering very easy to get it loud like the sterling boys do . So mixing properly is a huge thing . I don't like to master other peoples work because I will want to remix what they have done as I will hear tons of frequency problems - As I would be dealing with up and coming recording fellows from around here- If I get them to send 8 or 10 trk stems , then I start getting into mixing lol . So i just find it easier and faster to do it all and what the band hears is the final , so it is very easy to make changes without having to work with any other studio . Again it is all about ones ears and being able to frequencies . One thing I never use is any limiting , It Always wrecks any transients that I like to hear . The less you use on the mastering chain the better
