Thread Starter Verified Member | Gyraf Urei 1176 / 1178 Clone Is anyone here familiar with the Gyraf 1176/1178 Clone? Is it close to the original, sound wise? Do you feel it is "precise" enough, up to spec for mastering (noise wise, distortion wise, channel level matching accuracy)? Is the bypass a true bypass (shortest link bypassing all components)? So many questions... |

| Gear nut | the 1176 /1178 clones can sound really close to the original, but i think it all depends on which parts (caps, transformers,...) are used to build them. there´s no true bypass in the standard clone, but i´m sure it would be possible to add with some relays. that´s one of the great things with diy, you can build them like you want them. on the other hand i have never heard of someone using a 1178 for mastering, it could work for some material maybe. i don´t know, never tried that.

Thread Starter Verified Member | Could be just what the doctor ordered for some mixes. It might be nice to have around. That's my thinking anyway, who knows if it would get used much. I know a place that has one here in Germany, I'll ask them if they find that they use it much. |
