B&W 803D for mastering ?

I think to buy B&W 803D for mastering (not too big room - 6m x 4m, so I think B&W 801 or 802 could be too big for my room)
do you think its good choice ?
any other suggestions ?

or maybe its better to buy 2x K+HO800 for O300D which I already have ?

I don't think 802's would be too big... Assuming there's a reasonable attempt at broadband absorption (which would apply with any speaker).

There's no such thing as too big for your room.

Small rooms are always a challenge at low frequencies but throwing away the low frequencies in order to make it sound better is also throwing away accuracy. This is not a very good idea when it comes to monitoring!

hello i bought 3 years ago a 803 nautilus and right away updated it to a pair of 802 nautilus (it s an another world),the don t seems to be to big as soon as you treat acoustacally your room(enough bass trapping and good geometry and ratios...) my room is similar to your room
i listen to a pair of atc scm 100asl and they sound nice the medium range is very natural...

check even the atc scm150asl,maybe they ll fit nicely in your room?

best regards
alex

Any cheaper alternative to power up 802's ?

Home made tube amps ?

The least expensive amp I'd put on a 802 would be something from Emotiva, NAD, Rotel or Hypex.

No tubes, unless you're willing to spend the $$
