Using the L2 when less aggressive limiting is required or when used in combination with limiting on the converter.

Just bought PSP Xenon this week, so far I'm very impressed.

I don't trust the Sonnox limiter. I've had too many bugs and issues with distortion. It can work for aggressive Rock, but I don't particularly like having to look over my shoulder when working constantly. I'm hoping that Xenon can totally replace it.

Sonnox Limiter is definitely the L2 replacement for me, and no WUP! Also the Sonnox kicks the UAD Precision Limiter's ass in many ways.

+1 on that. The UAD thing is great as well from what I've heard, but Sonnox keeps things so incredibly dynamic!

Don't like limters at all, only in mastering chain at the end. Still love the L2 in ultra and type 2 mode...

L2 is still my favourite sounding plug compared to Sonnox (too hyped and weird), Massey (has some HPF thing going on, I'm sure. It enhances bass in some way I don't like) and L3.
L2 is like that girl that no-one will admit to sleeping with but everyone did it and hopes one day they will find someone that good again. (that may just be me)

hi....I do a lot of Cd to Lp transfers for people. I've found the
L2 to be a fabulous tool for unmasking the sounds that sit in
the dales of a waveform....makes for an overall nicer/sweeter
tonality to my ears BUT....like all tools, it must be used sparingly.
Usually my first step is to tweak the file lightly with a touch of
SoundForge/Sony's Track Compressor....now there's a GREAT
sounding Plug-In IMO....and then for the cherry on top
of the icing....a small amount of L2.....j-u-s-t enough
to give the file[s] a small amount of drive up from the original
metering....about 2-2.5dB. I never use it to make up gain...
on the other hand...I can hear why people would drive the
living daylights out of it and brickwall it to the max on
Hard Rock and Death Metal.....different applications for
different styles of music....
SUMMARY: I think the L2 is an absolute killer/must have app!

I think PSP are really onto something with their plug-ins. They definitely have a vibe about them, and a sound that is quite unique amongst plug-ins.

And amazingly "cost effective". The upsample feature is also very cool. My intern tried it out today and she also became a fan.

I have a feeling BK may have had some input into this plug (which is a good thing). It supports K-metering, has a pink noise generator for setup, and in the doc mentions macrodynamics.

Mmm... though what you've described is just that, albeit perhaps avoiding really maxxing things, which is .

Mmm, not necessarily. Maybe just to set a ceiling, without any added gain at all.

Is anything standard for everyone?

Those guys at PSP really did it all themselves. The split processing was all their idea and they developed this plug. They were influenced by some of my writings and ideas but they did it all themselves. I did minimal testing on the plug, found one or two bugs, but that's about it, I was very impressed by their thoroughness and sound quality.
