More Bits.

From my read, some of the biggest differences are:

#1 Dedication of an entire chapter to monitor calibration (CH. 15)

#2 The overview title for chapter 5 was Decibels for Dummies and in the second edition it's Decibels NOT for Dummies. fuuck

Overall a great read and worthy of the update.

IMO the 2nd edition is the one to get.

Bob even points out in edition 1 that 1/3rd of the information in the book will be obsolete in 5 years...and it's been 5 years since edition 1 came out... so....it's an easy choice...just get edition 2.

If you buy from Amazon, get the speedy shipping. I ordered mine on Dec 28 and they gave me an ETA of Jan 9!

Oh, and oh crap! The sell both and I didn't buy the second edition. I hope they let me send it back and get the right one. Who the hell ever heard of both editions of the same book being sold new simutaneously?

They probably had some stock of the first edition still available.

We need to get Jay to investigate how's the "other" book going so that one day I'll be able put them one next to the other on my bookshelf

I just got the book, but 2 things I like already. One is that its not a sterile, detached tome. In fact, its about the first time I have read an "instructional" book that was pretty much written in the first person. Bob brings us into his world. Sort of like sitting in his studio with him learning and gaining from his own experience.

Second, it the real world application. He doesn't just go "on a major manufacturers product..." he speaks of and name particular products - a real solid reference.

I know I am really going to enjoy this book.
