LG CD drive question

I have the option to get for free an LG CD/DVD USB 2/FW burner as shown here: LG GSA-5160D

I don't really know much about the relative merits of burners but my question is, is it likely to be of better quality than the stock CD/DVD drive on my G5 dual 2.0 Mac?

Many thanks!

It looks like an old drive and, from the Plextools scans that I saw in that review, it produces discs with higher error rates than I would like. If you notice, the reviewer was using a LiteOn and a Plextor drive to do the testing - there's a good reason for those choices - especially the Plextor.

Cheers

James.
