Need some advice on EQ purchase?

Greetings,
I hope this doesn't come across as "which should I buy", but.......

Which should I buy?

I've sold some gear and have about 3k to spend on mastering EQ. At this point flexibility is important, so any "one trick ponies" are out. I'm looking at the Algorithmix plugs as a "substitute" (I know tutt ) for the Weiss I can't afford yet, but wanted to make sure there's not a hardware unit in that range that I should consider.

As much as it kills me to drop that kind of cash on plugs the ease of use has it's appeal.

Any advice appreciated,
CAA

There's no one EQ in this price range that will do everything IMO. I sold my Algorithmix bundle and bought Millennia NSEQ-2 instead and it was good for me.... but I have some other EQ's these are doing all things Millennia can't do. Anyway it's very clean and quite versatile, might be better idea than Algorithmix.

You have to think if investing in more high-end in the future is that what you really want... but you will never know that before you try. There is no comparision IMO beetween plugins and hardware. But good converters are very important indeed ! Lynx converters are not that bad... I remember the guy who sold me Millennia, did some tests for me using Millennia and Lynx card (I don't remember which one though) and I was very surprised with quality of this test.

But from the other side if you will not invest in new high-end equipment and stay with only one eq, I think you will re-sell it sooner or later... but I may be wrong...

Since you're considering digital EQs, audition a z-Sys z-Q2. It's a versetile and nice sounding EQ well within that price range.

Wow. Switching between tube and solid state?

Thanks--I hadn't looked at that model.

Thanks for all responses,
