Monitoring with multiple speakers

Hello everybody, please give me advise about

Desktop Level Control / Monitor Switcher devices..

I need one and i´m wondering what would be a good purchase.
My first recommendation was mackies "Big Knob" but i´m not that sure whether that would be the best solution... but it´s in my budget.

All advice welcome, thanks!

If you're looking for "cheap and effective" then try the PreSonus Central Station. Passive path (except for the exceptionally decent at that price point dedicated converter, of course), A-or-B-plus-C switching (very handy if you want to run a parallel sub), excellent metering, great I/O options, less mess on the desk, the list goes on...

I've been very happy with the Grace M904 controller. Sounds great, tons of inputs (both analog and digital) with two monitor outs plus headphones (which can be set for a third pair of monitors) and a talk back section for the occasional tracking gig!

From a feature standpoint, the Grace boxes are great and they are built like a tank. However, I would highly recommend listening to that box before purchasing. My experience was... interesting.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Dangerous Monitor. The smaller Monitor ST is excellent and will accommodate surround setups but for that n'th degree of analog detail and a great built in converter, go for the bigger 2 rack space Monitor. It will drive 2 sets of monitors and combined with the Dangerous Master and MQ, makes up their mastering 'console'. I now have all 3 and LOVE it.

Chris has now come up with a mod that will allow the full Monitor to use the Monitor SR unit and the remote for surround.

EMM Labs Switchman:

*extremely flexible
*Four 6-channel inputs
*6-channel output
*Balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA
*every input can be trimmed
*multiple setups/levels can be stored in memory
*sounds GREAT!!!
*Blows away the monitor section of ANY board
*I wish it has a headphone output!
*Not inexpensive
