Thread Starter | thermionic culture vulture m inquiry
hello, i recently got a vulture m. besides the obvious benefits of the machine in a mixing project, so far it was not possible to adjust it to work on a stereo mix. with the actual unit i got i find it rather impossible to make both chanels act even comparabel. especially in p2 mode the right chanel shows a significantly different behaviour than the left one. it requires very different settings for all given parameters to achieve an output gain comparable to the left chanel, though the sound will be dramatically different at comparable levels. the left chanel works more plausibel with the right chanel giving a lot of transients and much more consistent artefacts.... is this experienced by anybody else, even expectable? i am a bit unhappy with these limitations, given this is the mastering edition... another thing that additionally curbs my enthusiasm about a brilliant device a bit is: i need at least two HU of free space beneath the vulture, otherwise the machine below will have a strong hum crosstalk (do not know how to put this correctly in english but i reckon you might know what i mean...) again: expectable? i was wondering if i got a minor/broken unit, so i tried to get in contact with support at thermionic, which seems not so easy so far....i wrote to the distributor as this is the only contact provided, but i never got any answer..... this is all a bit disappointing for a rather pricey device like this (though i still appreciate what it does a lot!!) any hints/help/experiences? thanks |

mine did the same thing, but i figured cuz it was NOT the mastering version. i wonder if it's just a matter of the knobs/pots calibrated wrong? |

One of the side effects you get with valve gear is that valves are very temperamental and sometimes you can get a new unit and valves move while transporting or you get unlucky with a valve going pretty quickly. If your distributor doesn't help (which he should and I would get rather upset with them after a week of trying) then contact thermionic culture directly and tell them your story, I found the whole thermionic team really reliable and they take great pride in what they do. I don't know where u live but Unity audio distribute them in the UK ... call them, they're very helpful. http://www.thermionicculture.com/products/index.htm Check their number at the bottom of the page.
