audio conversion

I ask here, because of your trusty ears. I would like to buy ad and perhaps da converter too. I seriously looking at rme adi series, because here in europe it has very good price. I would like to know your opinion about these rme converters' quality, and or suggestions about other stellar conversion. Please take into account that I'm in europe, so "native" american equipment has much higher price here.

The RME are generally decent enough converters pretty much in the middle of the pack in terms of sound quality. They offer very good bang for buck but I personally would never use them for mastering tasks.

Converters generally used by mastering studios include products by Lavry, Mytek, Benchmark, Apogee for the most part - with many studios also using stuff by Cranesong, Weiss, dcs, Prism, Universal Audio, Meitner, Genex and others.

Best regards,
Steve Berson

the thing is :

do you really hear a big difference between RME converters and "big and expensive brand = good for mastering" ones on a blind test?

Yes.

RME converters are fine but can't compare them with Lavry, Prism, DCS and so on.
These are stellar and so is the price....
There's absolutely nothing wrong with RME converters.
