Thread Starter | presonus firebox or more $$$$
Hello all i am selling my turntables and getting more serious about my home production setup. i curently have m-audio bx8's and a firewire audiophile. I am upgrading my monitors to the adam a7's. I was thinking of getting the presonus firebox however i dont want to upgrade the sound card again in a few years so this is my main concerns. I barly do any recording, the only recording I do is for vocals so the preamps don't have to be the best of the best. Want I do want to be the goods is the analog outputs from the sound card to the monitors. I dont know if the presonus outputs are as good as say rme 400 and i am just paying more money for the preamps. also a edirol or motu might be the go for me. it would be great if anyone has listened and compared different outputs of cards. Cheers |

i doubt the dacs on the firebox are any better than those on your audiophile.. certainly not worth spending 300$ for.

oh ok well thanks for that............ also i am thinking i would like a card with 24\192 output as i notice such a defference with vst's mixing at 24/96. and i know when i render at 192 it sounds even better.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but the M-Audio audiophile has no pre-amps. So, IMO, for the price, the Firebox can't be beat. I own one, and love it. I really think that you get quite the bang for your buck. I was lookign for a new interface, and portability was high on my list, but also Iw anted to have midi and at least 6 outputs on it. Well, the Firebox packs quite a few inputs, mic-pre's, monitoring options, digital I/O and miudi in a nice small package. And the Pre's are fine. No, they're not $2000,- mic-pre's. |
