room symmetry question

Hello!

I am planning on moving my "control room"/studio into a room in my basement that is aprox 14x9.

The main concern I have though is that the room has a heating duct running length wise in the ceiling attached to the corner of the roof and wall cutting about 2' out and down.

My wife has ruled out trying to reroute the duct, so my question is should I consider building a false "box" on the opposite wall to match the duct so the room is symmetrical or will it not cause any serious sound issues?

I probably wouldn't worry about that. It's over your head and well out of the way of the speaker's line of fire, yes?

I'd be more concerned with the duct resonating than with it affecting your imaging.
