BLA 002 mod...not very happy

i got my 002 back today from bla to find a few things that i am not happy with. first of all, my alt src button no longer works. i used this to run a 1/8" jack into the headphone output of my comp. now, the only way to hear any audio from the alternate source with the button pressed, is by turning the monitors all the way up and hearing it VERY faintly. also, if something is playing from the firewire end (anything in pro tools or running in core audio), you can hear that along with whatever is running through the alt source when its pressed down. also, my pres still have the SAME noise floor that BLA promises to "drop." plus, the monitors also still have that very annoying noise floor.

anyone with the same problems?

EDIT: BLA HAS EMAILED ME BACK AND ARE TAKING CARE OF EVERYTHING!
glad they can take responsibility. i just with i could keep my 002 in 1 place!

How does it sound though?

I am curious because I am getting mine done soon.

Does the new clock make a difference to you sonically? How about the analog inputs? More open and clearer? Other than the noise floor, do the pres sound better?

I realize it might take a while for you to actually hear the difference.

Thanks.

to be 100% honest with you, i havent even gotten to enjoy any of it yet, seeing as im pretty pissed that the pres still have that noise floor that i was told would be dropped and that my alt src button, which i use every single day, no longer works.

AH and the gain knob on my 3rd input is a very bad connection, and hisses at random spots. i really hope BLA takes care of all this. i sent them an e-mail, so hopefully this can be sorted out.

ok so i just tried out the new pres on my vocals. did a comparison with an old session. the new pres are very crisp and nice. im going to test out a guitar line in and a few others to get a good feel up and down the frequency range. the pres sound good, but its a damn shame that it still isnt working 100%.

and one more thing....the input of line one doesnt work at all.

i also used to switch sources with that button, but no longer.
wen i use pro tool or logic i have a template that has the inputs of the analog in on a aux track that i have mute. en wen i want to listen to my analog in i use the solo butten on the aux track. (i have a cd-player on it). for the DAC i use a Benchmark dac1. man its a total diff. world

only problem with that is how when core audio is open, any program that opens after it that outputs sound (pretty much every program) is now tied to core audio. in order to run PT, i need to close every program and close core audio. that means my browser, itunes (for references), and anything else needs to be closed then reopened. it doesnt sound like much, but it's a hassle.

I feel your pain. I finally had to put Protools on a computer by itself, now it's a dedicated recording machine.

I think this is part of an on going spirit of non-cooperation between Apple and Digidesign. I wish Digi would just fold in decent direct support for Quicktime and Apple Loops too. There's a lot of competition between these two and Digi's parent, Avid.

i recently had my 002 modded and now line input 8 is jacked. everything else is fine. they said they would fix it, they think it is a bad op amp. sending it off the first time was tough, set me a bit behind, but have to wait a month or so to finish tracking a current project, send it back, start rough mixing on the bands 002 till mine gets back, a pain, hopefully it will turn out ok.

on the bright side, i think it sounds great and have no regrets, and dont want to track on one without it.

also to reply to someone else, it sounds MUCH more open and clear, the whole "pulling the blanket of your speakers" thing is true, noticed it imediately.
got into a situation last week, where my nice pre's were set up for one project and had to slip someone in for a day, and used a couple of the 002 pre's and must say i was surprised how much better from the original they sounded. not great but much better for sure. will hopefully do some comparisons in the near future.
