Thread Starter | Male pop/rock vocals signal chain
Just curious what plugs, signal chain you use for a male pop rock vocal...And when its overdoing it for you in terms of compression. Do you use parallel compression at all? delay? In general, do you use a lot of outside signals besides the mic itself or just a little? Pretty general question, but let me know of your experiences...I'm working witha vocalist now where I wanted to approach it fairly dry but his voice with a fairly dry signal isnt cutting it....Ive had to had some low boost compression and even some gain from the digi 1 band EQ drive to make it cut through the mix....I was wanting it to be more pure....THank you!

It's always different, but I like to start with an SM7 into a 737 with lots of gain at the Pre... Sometimes disstressors can add a cool edge for vocals too. If I only have plug-ins, some times a gentle 1176 type comp into an L1. WORD |
