Just a quick question.

Is it only for tube mics, or would it be good for just a nice condenser?

I picked up one about a week ago, and have used it with a condenser as well as a dynamic. I am sure you can use it on what ever.

For the record, any mic preamp will work with any type of mic provided it has phantom power (48 volts DC) which only concerns condensor mics for the most part (there are some phantom powered ribbons on the market now).

Just didn't know if there was some weird thing that worked with tube mics only.

Maybe it was a dumb question?

Nope, if you don't know you don't know.

Although you probably could have read the manual!

Perhaps you're thinking of one of these:

Though that's not so much a Tube Microphone Preamp, but a Tube Microphone power supply.

I have a pro channel, and it's been a decent unit for the money. As has been stated already, it will work any mic you are likely to run across.

I have used mine multiple times as a bass DI and both myself and my bass player are very happy with the results.
We usd it a few times with the stock tubes and it sounded good. I upgraded to GE NOS tubes and we like it a little more.

I am sure at some point I will replace it with higher end gear, for now I an finding it has a place in my Home studio.

it's really not a bad unit on any mic/di situation. not for low end theory!
