opinions on mic/preamp combo app

Hello everyone: I have been dabbling in the recording arts for only a short period of time and luckily found this wonderful site. I need some advice in micing a mandolin and flute. My preamps are as follows and I don't have alot of experience with them:

Transformer preamps:
2 SCA N72's (Neve 1072 design)
2 SCA J99's twin servo design with John Hardy discrete op amps

Transformerless:
4 apogee ensemble class A preamps

I am looking for one or two good mics to couple with the preamps I already own. The mic selection I have is currently poor aside from a pair of 57's and i5's. I've heard the Royer 121 is amazing though unfortunately out of my price range. I've been interested in getting a Sennheiser MD421 II, an AT 4051, and possibly an AKG C414 XLS. If any of these could serve my purposes with the above preamps let me know though I am open to any suggestions! Thanks!
