Speakers for my computer

I need some not too expensive speakers for my computer at home. They also could come in handy with a laptop when doing some demo recording. I read that Bob Clearmountain uses some old Apple speakers sometimes when mixing, so there must be speakers that are not totally inaccurate, no exaggerated bass boost and stuff like that.

Do you guys have anything to recommend? I'm not sure if I want a speaker system with a sub or not but i guess it could come in handy. Since there are no possibilities to listen to the speakers in a store where I live it would be nice if someone knew about something that sound pretty descent so i can order a pair "unheard".

I say go for the Fostex 6301B. They sound really good and for the money you can't beat them.

Also, they're powered.
