Hey.....I think I recognize you, from the way you're holding that smoke in your face....hmmmmmm, anyway.....yep, to what you just said about Popmann, howdaheckever, I'm thinkin' we have both translated what he said differently. I was thinking he said exactly what I wanted to hear to sell me on the idea of T-Racks! Think about it, I'm gonna spend $250, to get a quick fix, that sounds fairly okey dokey. Well, in this world, ya just shouldn't be able to spend that little to get exactly the same sound you'd get from $500,000 worth of equipment and and experienced pro in a real Mastering house. It's still only a matter of time...but...for now, I want that quick fix, that is an improvement, and not just a different sound, that is really the same thing....only different.

I stick with my belief, that I am a song writer, trying to get a real good sound for my demo CD's, not an engineer that is attempting to get a real good master.

preciate the compliment too!

Well, think about all this "quick fix" nonsense...you're never satisfied and you know it...in two weeks you'll have your ol' lady convinced you need to spend another $250 on somp'n else, then in another month, another $300 on another, on and on, etc...all the while she's humoring your sorry and confused ass. Just keep using your Masterlink and put aside $250 - $300 every couple of weeks until you come up with 4 or 5 grand to get a real mother****er of a mastering machine.

So ya gonna sell me that Masterlink?

Well.....you're probably right.....except for the part about the wife humoring me.

Okay, the Masterlink is yours....just mail me a check for $1200.

I've never used the Masterlink, but that may be good advice...except the part about buying a "real" mastering machine.

I would argue you spend the money on objective experienced people in real ROOMS who also happen to have nice analog gear to master them. If they need it at all.

Ozone 3 is the $h*t!

Learn to use the Matching EQ on it... I am pretty sure there is a video demonstration on they're website, and it will teach you a godly feature of the plugin.

Ozone Three is very solid IMO!

Funny thing happened last night. I got to messing with some plugin compressors (I've been getting tired of the way they sound and have been mostly using outboard or none) including the TRacks one.

Dangit if it's not one of the best sounding comps I have on my hard drive. I have all the UADs and McDsps, and I gotta say, there are times when this thing is what I'd use.

I already like the Soft Clipper, and I do use the TR EQ sometimes, so that makes 3 out of 4.

It's weird when you come back to something and it's better than you remembered it.

I think people have a hard time with TRacks (a) because they call it Mastering Software and (b) because the GUI is lame.

The limiter still sounds cardboardy.

Actually, I tried a different aproach to T-Racks after I posted on this trhead.
I thought that the lack of headroom was very wierd and tried again a few more times.
I started making the compressor work less, the limiter work more and the Softcliper work less... sounded good and I had no headroom problems.
One thing I still have doubts... how do you guys use the hi pass filter on the compressor (the knob on the far left)? I allways use it on the lowest setting.

Any of you guys use the soft clipper on your 2 buss? I have Ozone 3, which I love, but You have to be real gentle with the compresser. I probably give a mix 3d at most in Ozone.

I was wondering if anyone is using the softclipper on their mixes also in conjunction with Ozone. I would imagine it would go before Ozone in the chain, but I dont have TRacks, so I can't find out for myself.

it acts as a limiter but it doesn't dither.

I don't put much on the 2bus these days. Soft clipper on the drum bus is great.

I don't use T-Racks while mixing on Pro Tools because PT LE doesn't compensate for T-Racks delay....

ok thanks. What kind of settings do you use on the drum bus for it? I haven't messed with a clipping plug before. I parallel compress mainly, and then do some light glue.

I was thinking of putting it with Ozone on the stereo Wav file just to get a couple Db of volume so I could push the Ozone compressor even less.

Yes! I highly recommend the Black 76 and White 2a as well. I do sampling for IK's virtual instruments. But the modeled effects are fantastic too. You can get them from our "esoundz.com" shop and if you put "Squids" as the referral you get some money back in credit. Just a tip. Regardless where you get it though you can download the demo first and see if you like it. That's always nice.

Squids is good peeps though. Check out his site, he and his company has created the sound libraries for IK's workstations for years. Not to mention he is a seasoned vet in the music industry playing on tons of albums the world over.

He happens to be a fan of T-Racks, as am I and have been since WAY before I ever worked for IK.

I demo'd T-racks & Ozone at the same time. I bought T-racks 1st and hope to get Ozone this fall.

I like T-racks. I like the brickwall limiter, I use the 670 on vocals along with the "Vintage" EQ. Like the "Drum Buss" preset on the classic compressor with some minor modification--it works very well with Superior Drums I've discovered. I use the "classic" EQ high shelf & tweek the bottom & high end for mastering in Studio One.

For the $$$ I'm very pleased with the results I get.

2006 to "now" is like night and day. Yes, and black76 and white2A are my favs comp emus. Try them. Its hard to make the black76 choke. Heavy use does not move the image around like some others.

Thank you! And yes it is great!

The back to back post from them was concerning, and unfair.

There's a daily limit that manufactures can post, just for that reason.

I demoed T-racks and was amazed by it.I think its sound better than ozone 5 IMHO.

It's a convenient mastering sweet, with a simple layout, that allow you to use your ears.

Thanks for the T-Racks love. Also, I had NO IDEA that we are limited on how much we can post. They just don't want us dropping links in every post. I've noticed if you participate in normal conversation, help, answer and engage in forums instead of just dropping links you are warmly received.

We try to be a part and answer questions every where we go. Besides, we are gearslutz too!

To be honest I'm just mad about 'sampletank',I really liked 'SAMPLETANK'!.

ST3 MAYBE?

I'm still healing sorry man,I loved it:(

But we both know what happened!

We have to find a way to stop the madness of the internet!

But yes T-racks is a great mastering suit, one of the best if not the best!
