What is a good inexspensive RTAS reverb plug?

I am not a big verb guy but I do need to use it from time to time. I mostly like plates for vocals...that would about cover most of what I need...maybe some nice LONG verbs.

I am not a big fan of Dverb...Rverb was "okay" but I am not doing Waves. I had a Rumour and it was cool but not what I was looking for. Any ideas guys?

How inexpensive?

I was recently in your boat. My only reverb (Lexicon 200) recently took a dump on me, and I was in a pinch for a decent verb. I ended up just getting the PTLE Music Production Toolkit which comes with TL Space.

It's actually pretty good. And ya know what....Smack! is a pretty decent compressor too

I believe I paid $450 for the MPTK.

I guess I just don't get what the big deal is with Ilok?

I've only had one since getting the MPTK a little while ago........seems fine to me.

I will say it's quite annoying because I don't have internet access at my studio, but other than that I don't get why people hate them so much.

I don't either.

The best plate emulation, IMO, is the UAD. I run a UAD with PTLE and it's fine. I know there's the initial investment of the card, but something to consider nontheless.

You can find TL Space on eBay for under $200 pretty easily. So far I'm very pleased.

Keep the ideas coming. I am on an Imac g5 so the UAD is not an option.

I really like the reverb on Ryan Adams "Love is Hell" album.

I can tweak Dverb to where it sounds pretty good...I cut the highs way back and use a lot of pre delay. I would prefer a nicer plug though...on the cheap. I have mics and stuff to buy too!

i would vote for the MPT to get TL space and Smack
if you want to run plug-ins you have to except having an ilok, they wok fine and save you alot of time in authorisation codes. if you dont like the light mount the thing inside your computer.

Lotsa people seem to like Wizoo, that's RTAS. $250 retail. I've never used it, tho. I think it's an IR verb.

Princeton Digital makes a plate reverb for $99, I haven't tried it, but I like their stereo room reverb. I think those are VST only, tho...

I like Silverspikes reverbs too, and for $39 for Reverb.it and $99 for their IR verb, you can't go wrong. Again, only VST, I believe...

Haven't tried it yet, but Audio Damage's "Reverence" reverb looks cool, a plate reverb inspired by vintage gear, and it's only $39! But...guess what...VST only! Wrapper time?

Altiverb is a stunning IR verb, and has some good plates on it. Nice long reverbs and good rooms (even some I've worked in before, which adds a nice personal touch!) Good features too (I like the easy "reverse" function.) I think it's a great deal for the price, personally. You can find it for less than $400 on ebay.

Have you considered a hardware reverb? I have 2 Roland SRV 3030's and an SRV 330 and they blow away any plugin I have used. Makes dverb sound like 2 cans and a string so to speak. You can get them for under 200 bucks and they have lights and lcd's!
Just a suggestion...

matt82aust...just tried the masterverb...can you tip me off to some settings you like for a thick "plate" style vocal verb? I tried it and honestly I though it was kind of "fake" sounding...and also had to use much longer decay to get it to sound "potent" enough...never melded with the vocal to me...seemed like a digital mask.

Maybe I just need a real plate? I wish.

I got the TL Space with Music Production and was really impressed with it. The other thing that I love is the waves True Verb with the Native Power Pack, or the Waves IRNative has been excellent. I like the plates on the True Verb. They are fairly simple. Good Luck.
