Anyone care to elaborate on what exactly this is,and what it accomplishes?

I wish I could help you out but I have never heard of the technique. I dumped my PSA after a couple of months. I could never get it to sound good direct which what I thought it was designed to do.

Running a clean signal in parallel with the SansAmp? Distortion is a form of compression -- would that be the reference?

I love parallel processing of all kinds. It just opens up a lot of colors and flavors.

Yeah, I've heard others complain too about the direct approach...I think anything direct with distortion sounds like ass.

But, when it's hooked to a nice power amp and speakers, that thing is a beast. Too bad you got rid of it.
