Thread Starter | Using LE & Digi 002 with Fireface.... I'm using a FF with Logic right now but I'd like to have PT for audio. Logic is better for many things but PT is just better for audio. Thing is, I have 10 audio ins with the FF into logic. I record drums and often have 10 mics up so it matters to me. I know the 002 has 8 Adats and 2 Spidf, can they be used simultaneously for 10 audio ins with the FF as the front end? Is there an LE limitation aside from the hardware? Would the D/A be handled by the 002 or can you set it up for the FF to handle it? Last question, what if I go with a cheep M-Audio hardware piece just so I can run M-powered and import the audio internally after recording into Logic... Do have to use the M-Audio piece as the D/A to monitor? Any other potential snags? Does anybody have a rig similar to this that might have some insights? Thanks!

| i believe you can use the the FF800 in stand alone mode, just set the i/o in total mix first. then you can go in and out of the 002 via ADAT and SPDIF and the 002 A/D will be fine when clocked from the RME. the only limitation is that ADAT is limited to 48KHz. if you can wait the M-Audio Light bridge should work for well for you as you will be able to use all the RME analogue i/o over both of the ADAT and the spdif i/o and you could even use 88/96KHz if you needed to (only 10 channels of course). the 002 is better hardware than anything M-Audio comes out with but just for digital i/o there wouldnt be a diffference as long as you dont need any of the features in PT that are LE only. |

| i use FF800 into FW410 currently.. and i get a lot of clicks/pops from not being able to lock sample rate firmly. i have FF800 as Master... but occasionally i still get the annoying c/p. i believe it's a M-Audio driver issue.. as they're known to be a bit shoddy? either works fine when used alone tho. i'm planning on replacing FW410 w/ either FW1814 or Lightbridge, due to Word Clock option. anybody with experience using FW1814 using Word Clock, you guys think this'll avoid the 2 interfaces from c/p's?? i'd also like to hear ppl from using 002's SPDIF/ADAT... any success stories?

Thread Starter | I was thinking of bypassing the in's alltogether. I'd record into Logic and export the files to Pro Tools where I'd edit etc. Anybody see a problem with this method? |
