Thread Starter | Digital desk, or analogue and audio interface...?
hi all, not sure which is the best route to take. obviously, the more cost effective choice is going for a digital desk - i've found 01Xs for £600 or so, but is it worth the saving? would an MKII (or similar, please advise) plus analogue desk be more worthwhile? something else to consider is that i do a lot of my processing in the box as so far my outboard gear collection is all but impressive... should i scrap the idea of having a mixer/interface all together? or would a digital desk serve the purpose adequately? at the moment, all i have in the way of interfaces is my MBox2. cheers guys, all help and advice would be much appreciated. -harry. |

I'd rather consider adding a controller to a DAW setup then buying an 01V actually. An 01V will add nothing to improve your mixes, it even might degrade them... So yes, an interface with AD/DA convertors and an analog mixer will be better then 01V, but maybe not really needed either... Analog summing is the latest hype. And while there is a difference, it's not like you can't get great results with digital summing in your DAW. I think it's more the engineer then the tools at that point.
