Fireface800 and multiface2 together??

I need more inputs without preamps and already have a fireface, so could I buy a multiface2 and use lightpipe to add 8 extra channels? If not the multiface then what?

Thanks

The Multiface does not operate as standalone converter. Get any 8-channel ADC with ADAT outputs that fits your budget....

Oh? What does the Disconnect mode does then? (as mentionned here: http://www.rme-audio.com/english/hdsp/multifa.htm )

Agreed, you'll have to set that up once, just search a friend who has the PCI or PCMCIA host card and set it up there...

Fact is, in that pricerange there isn't much choice for ADAT convertors. The Multiface II seems the best deal around actually, if that Disconnect mode is reality of course.

The disconnect mode is a reality, but it is not true that you'd only have to set it up once.

The settings are not stored in the Multiface, so they're lost when the unit is powered down. Hence you have to connect it in order to load the settings at the start of each session (the settings can be saved as a preset on the computer and loaded pretty efficiently, though).

Damn, that's a serious drawback

Yeah, it's a bit lame.

But look on the bright side - at least it is possible. Inconvenient, but possible.
