...just published in this morning's Jamaica Observer newspaper...the Dec. 12th New York/Foundation Radio Network Top 30 Reggae Chart...Congratulations to Jamaican reggae artist Michelle "Songbird" Gordon for her #1 hit single "Essence Of Life"...the song is also #2 and still rising on the South Florida Reggae Top 10 Chart!
...all vocals recorded with a Stellar CM-6 tube/condenser microphone...
...that was not my production, but I did track the vocals in my S. FL studio for the producer...mixing and mastering were done up in NY...we have some other tracks in the pipeline awaiting mixing/mastering for the same producer...those tracks are geared for the caribbean music community...
...in the meantime, I am co-producing an album (with another GS member) for the same vocalist, but in a more international style (reggae/pop/r&b)...she is a fabulous singer and songwriter (she put my Melodyne plugin out of business!)...
I have GS set not to display signatures and avatars, so it might be common knowledge.
However you seem to be in every Stellar thread, and in those that are not about Stellar, you are usually the first / only one to reecomend. Is there a feature for the bords that automatically emails us when a certain keyword comes up? (similar to ebay saved search) Or are you just searching on Stellar every day and commenting?
I always wonder how certain folk seem to end up in every thread about a particular product. If a feature like that saved search exists on this board, it would be quite handy for me. Im not that board savy, so it may be a simple answer. Perhaps something I overlooked.

OP, you work for Stellar, correct?
However you seem to be in every Stellar thread...
...if you've read my other posts you'd already know I do not work for Stellar...I use the CM-6 regularly, for vocal tracking (as in the title of the thread)...I like the mic, but you already know that...

The simple answer is that the Stellar CM-6 is a great mic and arguably the best tube mic on the planet for under $500. And this is a message that I have said many times on other postings as well.
People like myself have experience with MANY expensive high-end tube microphones, and that's why we like the Stellar CM-6. It's because it's a great mic and competes well with microphones that cost 2-3 times as much.

Complements the CM5 nicely.

...Blessup Markus!...glad to hear you're pleased with it...don't forget to look into a Valvo E80F for that badboy...really brings out the best in that simple plate-follower circuit...between the 2 mics, you cover a lot of sonic territory...

Hey kidvy, how does the E80F compare to the Mullard or Amperex EF86 in sound? It's funny you mention this because lately I've been looking for a few EF86s to add to my backup stash, and never thought about the E80F. Also have you ever tried the chrome plate Tfunk EF86?

Thanks!
...Frank, I tried a few different EF86 tubes in the CM-6 (Amperex/Bugle Boy EF86/6267, Tesla EF806S, Mullard EF86, Tele EF86, Valvo EF86, etc) but to my ears the E80F (6084) was clearly the best option...the mic sounds so open and detailed with the E80F...I was tipped off to the E80F by Oliver Archut who has recommended it as a viable replacement for the EF86 in the U67: Archive - Tube Choices for U67
...since recommending the E80F as an upgrade option on the CM-6, I have heard back from a number of those who swapped out the stock tube and corroborated similar sonic improvement after burning in the NOS E80F...they are readily available in NOS form and the prices up till now have been reasonable...not sure how the E80F will fare in other applications where the EF86 was the stock tube, but in the CM-6, it's a wonderful and cost effective option...
BTW, the Tele tube I tested was an old grey plate...I have not tried the "chrome" version...are those higher-grade?
congrats! I don't like the sound of it tho, sibilant and small, but maybe it was mixed that way
...they mix these tunes for the caribbean market and often they remind me a bit of the old 45rpm singles...but the mix engineer who worked on this track (Phillip Smart) is legendary in the genre, so I refrain from second guessing his mix ...
...recently, I was honored to have had a very respected and accomplished engineer/mixer in my studio who has vast experience tracking divas (Mariah, Whitney, Toni, Janet, Celine, Jennifer, etc) and he was very impressed with the vocal tracks I auditioned for him with this same microphone/vocalist combination...enough so that I was invited to bring the Stellar tube mics to his Miami studio for demo purposes with his tracking rig...

You still haven't answered how you manage to find and comment on every mention of the CM6.
Where did I say you said it was too bright? I reread my post and I clearly did not attribute you specifically saying it was too bright. I clearly said I hear no excessive brightness.
