Dilema: downgrade Multiface, upgrade Behringer monitors?

I have Behringer Truths, and they're really coming up short. They have no detail, crappy imaging and low end extension, and nothing is translating at all (my room is pretty well tamed, so that's not the prob).

I also have an RME Multiface -- great soundcard.

Now, I don't really have much available cash, so the debate is this:

Option A) sell the Multiface and Behringers, and downgrade to slightly less expensive soundcard but to much improved monitors (like, a Presonus Firebox and a BlueSky Prodesk, NHT M-00's, Dynaudio BM5's, or something there abouts).

Option B) keep the Multiface, but still sell the Behringers and simply try to improve my monitors with a bit of cash thrown in (like Tannoy Passive Reveals or Wharfedales).

Ideas?

Are we voting?

I vote B

The D/A of the Multiface is very nice. Might be tough to downgrade and find something on par with what you have now...

Vote away!

I really do like the Multiface...very well made piece of gear that could last a lifetime.

I don't care about "name status" with monitors...I just want boxes that will tell me if the levels are balanced, and if there are any freq. related problems. I just want to know that I can mix til I like how it sounds, and have it work on 90% or playback systems.

The Truths are horrendous. Tey have fatiquing, brittle, highs, make it hard to hear where vocals really sit, and don't even get me started on trying to mix kick, bass, etc. It's al guess work.

Me too, although I wouldn't go for the Wharfdales.

I guess I'll vote for A.

I would hate to see you take a step down in terms of AD/DA, but I just upgraded my Behri Truths for a pair of the new ADAM A7s (about 1000.00).

I know where you are coming from about the behringers--I have had the same experience with the low end being very inaccurate and not translating well.

I've only had the ADAMs for less than a week, but I love them--much better detail and great low end.

Maybe save up for a few more months so you can keep the Multiface and get better monitors?

I think I'm leaning towards that...it seems that the options really start to open up at that $700-1000 range.

Hmm.

Reveals look like a good option...i'm concerned about their lack of low-end extension though...
