This is strange. I was doing about a hundred takes the other day and all of a sudden, my recordings went from great to crap
http://static.gearslutz.com/board/im...s/facepalm.gif I figured it was the mic since i was up so close and personal but I changed that out and the new mic isn't much better. I tried going through both my preamps that run through my ad-16x into my motu and both sounded crappy compared to the original tracks even when I used the exact same chain and session. I even tried going through my motu896hd like I do with direct guitars and that even lost its high end air and clarity. It sounded cheap. any Ideas? My audio chain is a Ksm44 into a focusright voicemaster pro or brick into ad-16x aes and word clock into motu generally used as sound card and then into logic or alive. I tried reinstalling the os, motu software, changing cables, everything. The old tracks still sound huge, personal and airy when played back but everything I record now sounds... kind of hazy and flat. it also lacks detail and isn't as fast. Anyway, I tried running straight through the voicemaster in a loop and listening with headphones and that sounded crappy so I figured it was the mic but when I ordered a new one it still sounded cheap. not to mention the other mic preamp doesn't sound as good either. Is it even possible for the motu to be breaking down on only the Input and still outputting fine? Am I missing something?
Thanks
