Help with Studio Monitors selection

Hi guys. I'm producing Progressive House music and i'm looking
to buy a pair of Studio Monitors and an external sound card.
After some research i ended up on these models below:

Studio Monitors:

1. Dynaudio Bm5a Compact

2. Dynaudio Bm5a MkII

3. KRK VXT-8

4. KRK Rokit 8

5. Yamaha HS80M

So which pair of these monitors above do you suggest me to buy ?

Sound Cards:

1. Focusrite Scarlett 2i4

2. Focusrite Saffire 6 USB

Also, are these 2 sound cards above any good ? And why don't
they have an external power supply ? Is the USB power enough ?
If you have any other sound card recommendations please let me know.

Thanks a lot in advance !

Couldn't tell you about the sound cards, or the Rokit 8. However I own two rokit 6s and they are very good value, they are especially good at producing EDM. I know little about the Yamahas but I hear they are excellent too and that it's a really tough decision between rokits and them but the yamahas edge it.

If I could go back in time i'd probably try out the yamahas instead of the rokit 6s, but i'm more than happy with mine atm

Dynaudio BM5 MKII and Scarlett 2i4 or VXT8 and Scarlett 2i4. Can't go wrong with any of this two combinations.

You didn't include these within your research...

.......These are superb and you can get a pair for under £500.

They used to cost loads more, but M-Audio are discontinuing them, so prices has been hugely slashed...

M-Audio Studiophile DSM3 - Thomann UK Cyberstore

Forget the name, these are up there with the other monitors on your list

I say definitely get the Scarlett. Also, I would recommend the Yamaha HS80m's over the Rokit's or dynaudios and the KRK VXT8's over the Yamaha's.

I love my HS80Ms. They are big and full and can be adjusted to the room. I mix at a fairly low volume and they work really well while getting a big sound. If you decide to go that route, Hello Music was offering a great deal on them at the end of last week.

Honestly man, it's a matter of preference. So many variables, the most important being your own ears. These are all fairly common speakers, I bet if you go to your local music retailer (Guitar Center, whatever) you'll find them set up so you can demo them. Personally, I own the MKII's and like em quite a bit. Very precise. However, the guy I talked to preferred the HS80M's, he just liked the rounder low end. I personally didn't care for KRK's stuff too much.

Notice all the use of the word "personally" there, lol. Just go check em out and see what you think

The problem is that there aren't any music stores with Studio equipment in my town,
so that's why i find it really difficult to decide. I agree though, that i have to try different
monitors before taking a final decision but i guess that it's not possible lol

I've heard that KRK have muddy low end in some models but that's only what I've heard... I could recommend M-Audio BX5 D2's or BX8 D2's, dependant on the size you need, really great for the money!
