Thread Starter | Using both channels of Samson S-Com Plus in series, on one signal?
I have a Samson S-Com Plus (Gate/Expander, Compressor, De-Esser, Limiter), which has two separate channels that can be used as stereo or dual mono. The rig has several limitations, such as the fact that you have to choose between using EITHER the gate OR the expander, the compressor and the de-esser use the same attack and release settings, and so on. Would there be any problem in using the S-Com Plus's two channels as separate mono channels, connected in series? In other words, running channel 1's output into channel 2's input and then sending channel 2's output to my DAW? Since I almost always record one instrument at a time, it seems to be an ideal set-up -- I'll have separate gating and expanding, I'll be able to set separate compression and de-essing parameters, and I'll even have two separate compressors to play with. And the connection is as simple as using a balanced patch cable. Seems almost too good to be true... which is why I'm asking -- does anyone foresee any problems with this set-up? Cheers! |
