Pre73 sends phantom power even when the power is off?

Seems like My Pre73 sends phantom power even when the power is off...I wonder if yours does too.

I have a KEL HM7U mic which has a little blue LED that lights up when it is receiving phantom power.

I powered off the Pre but noticed the little blue light stayed on. When I press the 48v button to the out/off position the blue light on the mic goes out. Press it back in/on the mic light goes back on.

The pre73 is powered off the whole time..48v led never lights up while power off but i think it's still sending the voltage.

What do you think..normal?

Let it set a while with the power switched off. The power circuit for the phantom supply may have a capacitor that holds/stores the voltage for a while and it may take a bit of time to drain down.

Isn't it also true that some condensers can run at less than +48v? that coupled with a capacitor could power a mic for some time after switching off.

^ true... my Studio Projects VTB's phantom power (and other buttons) also stay lit for a few moments before they fade away.
