Blue Sky 2.1 vs Twin 6 Be (music mixing)

Hi all,

I'm considering a studio monitor upgrade, for the mixing of music (hence no need for surround sound). I'm debating between the Blue Sky System One (2.1), or the Twin 6 Be monitors by Focal. Both have received great reviews, but I'm curious the opinion of users here regarding this?

I compose video game music, and occasionally music for television. I have an acoustically treated room, so bass issues due to the sub of the Blue Sky system shouldn't be an issue.

Any recommendations? Traditionally I believe BlueSky is for surround mixing, and not used as much in music mixing. Which monitor might give better music mixing results?

Thanks much =)

Is there a hi-end shop somewhere near you where you can hear them side by side?

There is a great shop here in Melbourne that has both setup in a listening room and they are both fantastic monitors. I had a good listen whilst I ws comparing between the Focal CMS 40 pair vs a Bluesk Mediadesk 2.1 setup

(The CMS were clear winners by far in this shoot out, and they were the speakers I went home with. Didn't like the sound or holes in the Mediadesk's image - just my opinion - but the System one by Bluesky were awesome, as if made by a different company or something)

But here you are talking about both brands hi-end systems. This thread belongs in the hi-end forum most likely, as lots of pro rooms run the Twins and might have better responses. The Twins sound fantastic and present great detail. They don't go as super low as the system one, but here we are talking the absolute lows from horror movies vs music. Which is understandable since the sheer size of the sub in the system one plays a big part (have you seen a system one in person?) and as you said the Blue Sky's are often used by people working on surround, TV, film etc

Got too hear them

Thanks much for the info, very helpful! I'm definitely leaning towards the Focals. BTW - I originally posted this in the high end forum I believe, but I think it got moved.
